So, here is the latest news in my musical adventure.

A few months back, I contacted this guy named Ben Shive (http://web.me.com/benshive/Ben_Shive/%283m%29_production.html), an incredible musician/producer in Nashville who has worked with everyone from Sara Groves to Andrew Peterson. Anyway, I got in touch with him because as I’ve started thinking about what I want to do next with my music, I decided that I want to take a step forward.

My other two projects that I’ve done, “Since I’ve Seen the Rain” and “The Sunshine EP,” have been recorded at a friend’s house, with borrowed equipment and scarce resources. I am grateful for what I have been able to create with all this, but if I’m going to take my music seriously, I need to take a step into new territory.

Professional help.

Ben seemed like the perfect fit for my music. I love the artists that he works with; I know that he does high quality work; and he is an incredible guy with a passion for Jesus.

So, we started talking about what I want to do, I sent him the EP, and left it at that.

It was quiet for a few weeks, and then out of the blue, he e-mailed me back.

He told me that he had been thinking about me, listening to my stuff, and that he wanted to get a better idea of what I want to do with my music. He said he liked my songs a lot, that he thinks I can write even better ones, and that it would be fun to make a record. He gave me his phone number and told me to give him a call.

I was floored.

After talking to him on the phone, I felt a little overwhelmed but excited at the same time.

So…over the next couple months, I am going to be focusing on writing some new material, improving my guitar and vocal skills, and working with Ben to shape the vision for my new cd.

I’m pumped.

I’m starting to think that maybe I can actually do something with this whole music thing.

Just keep me in your prayers, and look for more updates soon.

So cool, Jon. Sitting out in the crowd on Sunday night (versus backing you up on the keys) I thought to myself that you are so young and already so gifted that the sky really is the limit for you in whatever you choose to do. You are a gifted writer, musician, and singer and God doesn’t want to waste any of that ability; He’s got things in store for you that you can’t even imagine; there are too many people that need to hear what Jesus has to offer through Jon Morris!!! I’m excited too!

I’ll do your backups. It’ll be swell.

Just kidding, Bear. Seriously, you’re going to be fantastic, and before you know it, we’ll be babysitting you-know-who’s-kids, and having lunch as “members” of their fam. 😉

You’re gonna do great, and I’m positive that “Lindsey Lloyd” will be a hit single!

    Love you, CMB.
